About the comp


Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st February, 2021

2021 marks the 24th year of this wonderful event. We have made the decision make the event virtual for 2021 so you can fish in any of your local waterways right across Australia. Please follow local rules and regulations.

Registrations will be open from 1st November, 2020 www.denifishingclassic.com.au

Fishing will commence at 7:00am on Saturday 20th Feb and finish on Sunday 21st Feb at 5pm.

How the comp works
  • Anglers can commence fishing at 7.00am local time in their State/Territory on Saturday, 20 February 2021 and cease fishing at 5.00pm local time in their State/Territory on Sunday, 21 February 2021.
  • No Lines in water prior to the official start time (State/Territory of the competitor) Saturday, 20 February 2021 and all lines out of the water at the official finish time (State/Territory of the competitor) on Sunday, 21 February 2021.
  • When you catch your target species simply lay the live fish with the nose in line with the “0” (zero) measurement on your brag mat.
  • Photograph the fish so the entire length can be seen in the photograph along with your entry number.
  • Only a fish caught by the registered angler can be entered.
  • Any photograph that shows a fish not alive or damaged will not be accepted.
  • Any photograph which has undergone digital manipulation will be disqualified.
  • Follow the directions on the website to upload your photograph.
  • All entries to be uploaded by 7.00pm (State/Territory of the competitor) Sunday 21st February 2021.
  • Any photographs uploaded after this time will not be accepted.
  • If your photograph is damaged, blurry or the overall measurement of your fish is not clearly seen with your angler number the photograph will be disallowed.
  • Check the website on Monday, 22 February, 2021 to see if you’re a winner.
  • The Deni Fishing Classic committee’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.


For all fish, take a photo on a brag matt with your phone or camera with your 2021 registration number clearly visible and then release the fish immediately at the place of capture.

Send photo to Chief Marshal 0474 343 732 to have your photo recorded and you will receive a message in return, please include the fish species.

Please refer to illustration below. Photos must be clear and include the whole fish. Photo must include your registration number. Catch must be returned to the water immediately as it is illegal to keep or hold a Murray Cod over 75cm in your live well or keep net.

Barramundi, Travelly, Whiting, Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Snapper, Sea Perch, Emperor, Tuna, Salmon, Bream, Tailor, Australian Bass, Carp, Flathead.
(Please retain and utilise, or destroy any captured European Carp rather than returning them live to the water).


Adult & Junior.


Saturday 20th February – 7:00am to 5:00pm.
Sunday 21st February – 7:00am to 5:00pm.


Fish pre-caught and tethered or caught in nets are not permissible and will result in disqualification.
